How to Win EBay Auctions

At one time eBay was a website primarily used for buying and selling antiques and collectibles. Now, everything from used clothes to new electronics are sold. While you can usually find great deals on eBay, winning the bid is another story. Here is my secret recipe to winning eBay auctions with low bids.

How to Win At Bidding On eBay

Instructions

1 – Type your desired item into the search field on the eBay home page. The search field can lead to some better deals than when you solely use the EBay category function for Ebay Auctions or auctions like ebay.

2 – Sort the results by the eBay auction listings ending soonest. This allows you to see all items on top of the screen that are ending within a few minutes.

3 – Select the eBay auction listing you would like to purchase. If it is ending within 5 minutes, click “Bid Now.” If it is ending an hour or more away, click “Watch this Item.” Watch your clock and bid when the auction will be over in 5 minutes.

5 – Enter your highest bid amount into the right field. Make your bid is an odd number. For example, instead of bidding $10.50, bid $10.53. This will make sure you automatically bid over anyone who bids $10.50 or those that bid $10.51.

How to Get Up to Date Bid Information on eBay

Most eBay bidding takes place during the last hour of an auction. When only a few minutes or seconds remain on an eBay auction, it’s critical that you know when you’ve been outbid. The only sure way to see the most current bid information on your screen is to refresh your browser screen, but reloading the entire page can take too much time, especially when you have a slow Internet connection or the auction is within seconds of closing. EBay, however, provides some alternatives you can use to update the bid information more quickly.

Instructions

1 – Locate the eBay page containing the auction you want to monitor. If you are viewing the item on a search results page, click the item description to navigate to the bidding screen.

2  – Click the “[bids]” link just above the Place Bid button. This takes you to a new screen that shows the bid history for the item. More importantly, the screen doesn’t include a lot of images and advertisements that increase the amount of time it takes the page to reload, and you can still place your bid from this screen.

3 – Press the “F5” key on your keyboard to reload the page and see the current bid information. You can also refresh the screen by clicking the circular arrow in or near your browser’s address bar.

4 – Reload the page during the last 15 minutes of the auction. A new “Refresh” button will appear on the page. Use this button to refresh only the bid information, which takes less time than reloading the entire page.

Tips & Warnings

Once you’ve placed a bid on an item, you can access the 1 Click Bid window from the item screen during the last 15 minutes of the auction. The 1 Click Bid screen allows you to increase your bid with a single click, and it also contains a special “Refresh” button you can use to quickly update the bid amount.

How to Win At Bidding On eBay

On eBay, people put items up for auction that anyone in the world can bid on and win. Many popular items are difficult to win as people attempt to outbid each other up until the end of the auction. However, if you are willing to pay the most for it, you can win any item on eBay.

Instructions

1 – Sign into your eBay account.

2 – Find the item that you want to bid on and click it to go to its auction page.

3 – Enter a maximum bid amount in the field labeled “Your Max Bid.” If you absolutely want to win the item, you should enter an amount that you think is much higher than anyone else wants to pay. You will not necessarily have to pay the maximum amount you enter as eBay places bids in small increments.

4 – Click “Place Bid.”

5 – Check the item again periodically before the auction ends. Place a higher bid if necessary.

Tips & Warnings

Bidding services may be available for a cost if you cannot monitor your auctions personally.

Do not spend more for an item than it is worth to you.

Do not bid more money than you can afford.

The use of automated software to bid for you violates eBay’s User Agreement.

How to bid low and win auctions on eBay

1 – After you have found an item that you wish to bid on, click on the watch item icon. Do not place a bid on your item just yet.

2  -Once you have clicked on the watch item icon, you will be able to monitor the item under the My eBay page. You can find the my eBay icon on the top right hand corner of the screen. You must be signed into your eBay account to monitor your items.

3 – During the last few seconds of the auction you may place your highest bid. I generally do this during the last 30 seconds. However, keep in mind that others will be doing this as well, so make sure that you bid your absolute highest amount that you are willing to pay. You will find that you can win auctions this way paying a fraction of the price as oppose to bidding throughout the auction. Happy Bidding!

Tips & Warnings

Do not bid until the last few seconds

Don’t forget to put your items into the watching category!

As tempting as it is do not bid till the last few seconds

Bid your maximum for the item, since it will be too late to bid again

How to Bid on eBay at the Last Minute

Experienced eBay buyers call it sniping, and they often employ this technique when they wish to win an eBay auction. When you bid on eBay at the last minute, you watch the auction carefully and use time as a tool to win the item. To compete successfully for hot items on eBay, you may need to learn last-minute bidding techniques.

Instructions

1 – Place the item on which you want to bid into your “Watched Items” area in your eBay account when you find an item you desire. Note the time the auction is ending so you know when to return to bid.

2 – Return to the item auction approximately 10 minutes before it ends. Assess any bidding activity to ensure you still wish to bid on the item. Often, an auction price will rise steeply as the end of the auction approaches and the item price may be higher than you anticipated. If you still wish to bid on the item, proceed to the next step.

3 – Refresh the web page every five to 10 seconds as the timer ticks down to the end of the auction. As you watch the timer, also watch for other bidding activity that may occur by other buyers.

4 – Wait until the timer counts down to approximately 20 to 30 seconds (depending upon your internet connection speed). When this amount of time remains, quickly enter your maximum bid in the empty field beneath the current bidding amount. Bid the highest amount you are willing to pay for the item because you will not have time to enter a second bid if this bid fails. Click the blue “Place Bid” button.

5 – Confirm your bid as quickly as possible on the next page by clicking the appropriate button.

6 – Wait until the auction ends to see if you won the item. You will see a message congratulating you as the winner if you won.

Tips & Warnings

If you wait until the last few seconds to bid, you may not have time to enter additional bids if other buyers have placed bids higher than yours.
