Pictures are a vital part of an eBay listing; when Firefox prevents you from uploading them, you can lose valuable time and visibility. Because it is an open source program, Firefox and its extensions are vulnerable to problems that can interfere with functions like uploading.
Safe Mode
Mozilla, the company that oversees the production of Firefox, allows users to install add-ons, extensions and themes. Anyone can create one of these custom functions; Firefox does not verify the code. As such, add-ons, extensions and themes can contain scripts that interfere with Firefox’s ability to upload pictures. Corrupt scripts are known to cause problems with uploading to eBay because they block the browser’s ability to finalize the upload. If you can upload pictures to eBay in safe mode, your customization options are probably the problem. To start in safe mode, hold down the command key as the browser opens.
Identifying Faulty Scripts
Once you have determined that a theme, add-on or extension is causing trouble with eBay uploads, you must identify the problem. Resetting the browser to the default theme and testing the upload will rule out the theme as the problem. Disable all extensions and add-ons from the Add-ons option in the Tools menu. From there, you must disable add-ons and extensions one at a time and test the upload to identify the problem script. Once you find the one that is causing the problem with eBay, you can either remove it or disable it during the upload process.
Exceptions
When using Firefox, you can set security exceptions that enable or disable your access to certain websites. If you do not have an exception for eBay, Firefox may detect a security risk and prevent you from uploading photos. Some users on the Mozilla support forum reported the exact opposite, where an existing eBay exception was preventing them from uploading pictures to the site. On a Mac, you can find the exceptions tab by selecting Preferences from the Firefox menu and clicking the Advanced tab. On a PC, choose Options from the Tools menu, go to the Content tab, and select Exceptions from the Load Images Automatically menu. Remove or add i.ebay.com to see if it resolves the problem.
Internet Connection
Firefox itself is not always the cause of problems uploading to eBay. If your Internet connection is slow or if the signal is intermittent, the upload may not be able to go through. Larger pictures are even more difficult to upload over an unstable connection. Test your Internet by uploading photos to other sites; if you have trouble, the problem is probably not with eBay specifically. Restarting your modem and router or moving closer to a wireless router can solve temporary Internet upload issues.
